Six Qualities That Should Mark Every Christian Educator

†    ANSWERS A CALL: Teaching in a Christian school must be more than a job.  It must be viewed by each teacher as an answer to God's call on his or her life to impact young hearts and minds for eternity.  This means that every teacher must have accepted Christ as his or her personal Savior and view teaching as God's call on his or her life.

†   MODELS DISCIPLESHIP:  Each and every teacher influences her students in three ways-by what they say (content), how they say it (communication), and how they live (conduct).  It is not enough for a teacher to merely know Christ as his or her Savior.  The teacher's life must also be a model of active trust, love and obedience to Christ.

†    HONORS TRUTH:  Christian school teachers must honor truth by believing that God's Word is absolute truth..  In the last five years, we have witnessed an effort to redefine truth as that which is merely legally accurate.  Christian school teachers must combat this false view of truth by knowing God's Word and standing firm on it as being absolute and inerrant.

†    MAINTAINS INTELLECTUAL INTEGRITY:  It is important that Christian school teachers area constantly striving for knowledge and understanding.  Teachers must strive for academic excellence in their own lives as well as in the classroom.  However, the motive for this is to prepare students to stand for their faith in a hostile, competitive world.

†    ACCEPTS STEWARDSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:  Christian school teachers must be willing to be accountable as stewards of all that God gives them.  This goes far beyond stewardship of physical resources. It also includes the intellectual and spiritual potential found in each student's life.

†    LIVES AND TEACHES WITH HOPE:  A teachers' life must be marked with hope.  Of course our hope is not based on mere temporal success but on the eternal promises that God provides in His Word.
